Dream Light

Walking in what was left of the woods,

I tripped on a root on the ground

From which grew the tree of truth.

I stumbled and skinned my knee;

It bled like the Twentieth Century.

I looked up to see the bone of the moon

Bobbing in the sky’s black sea.

All the stars had sunk out of sight,

Drowned by the moon’s mysterious light.
